In DC…

Dupont Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend - The following museums will be open for free* on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 from 11 am-4 pm.

Fiesta Asia - This street fair programs & activities including street fairs, movie fest, performing arts showcase, art exhibits, fashion program, tasting extravaganza, musical concerts and many more. It will take place on Saturday, May 18th.

Tacos and Tequila - on Saturday, May 18th, this event will feature renowned brands such as Casamigos, Casa Azul, Cincoro Tequila, Mijenta Tequila, Ana Maria, Tequila Rosa, Banhez Mezcal Astesnal, and many more. Savor tequila or cocktail tastings, delight in delectable taco samples from Pink Taco, Mission, El Teco, Surfside Tacos, Los Cinco, and El Bebe, and witness fierce competition as vendors compete for the title of Ultimate Taco and Tequila Champion. Dance to live music by Love Seed Mama Jump. Tickets cost $75.

DC Black Pride - DC Black Pride was the catalyst for what is now regarded as the Black Pride Movement. Since its birth, more than 50 other Black Pride celebrations now take place throughout the world, many using DC Black Pride as its model. Today, more than 500,000 members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of African descent and their allies come to Washington DC on Memorial Day weekend to celebrate the beauty of a shared community and raise awareness and funding for HIV/AIDS in the name and spirit of Black Pride. This year, DC Black Pride will be held from Friday, May 24th-Sunday, May 27th.

Jazz in the Garden kicks off on Friday, May 31st. On Fridays throughout the summer, the event will be held in the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden. An eclectic mix of DC-area jazz musicians lend a soundtrack to one of the city’s most idyllic scenes set around the sculpture garden’s central fountain. This is a free seasonal tradition. Due to high demand, the museum has instituted a lottery system; visit the Gallery’s website for more information.
