At Honey Bee Therapy,

music is powerful.

If you couldn’t tell by the lyrics sprinkled throughout this website, I listen to music often. When I’m reading, I listen to jazz, and when I’m completing notes, there’s lo-fi in the background. When I’m driving, rap is on full blast. And when I’m cooking or baking, I’m playing R&B ranging from the 70s to today.

Music has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. So much so, that I were not a psychotherapist in private practice, I would be a DJ like my father was 🤗🎶

I truly believe in music’s healing powers and admire artists’ abilities to express themselves in song.

Listening to and responding to music (via dancing, writing, sharing, playlist creation, reflecting, etc.) is a therapeutic coping strategy that you may already have in your toolkit. Check out the below playlist to revisit some old favorites and discover some new art too!

If you type “toxic trait” and “alone” on Twitter X 🙃, you’ll see many variations of a post describing users’ tendencies to cut people off when feeling overwhelmed by life. That’s totally common, and something we can certainly chat about.

Until then, check out this playlist for some self-care during those alone times.
